Android 4.4 KitKat that was awaited for some time for Nexus 4 smartphones has finally landed on to the devices. But much to the surprise of Nexus 4 users, the update has created some issues for the device.
As the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 users were complaining of a number of issues after updating their handsets to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the Nexus 4 owners have come up with their own problems.
Just after updating their Nexus 4s to Android 4.4 KitKat sweetner, many users started reporting issues like broken dialer, non-working home button, and some issues related to lockscreen and settings.
As usual, the users took to the online technology forum to post their problems, and obviously to seek some solution too.
XDA Developers’ forum was found with complaints regarding the Nexus 4 Android 4.4 KitKat update.
“When I click and hold the home button, Google Now does not appear. I am using Apex Launcher, and I also set a quick tap of the home button to shift it to the home screen. And it does not do that too. It seems that the home button is not working. It does glow and vibrate on tap when you click it though,” a US-based Nexus user posted on XDA Developers forum.
It’s not like all the users who updated their devices to Android 4.4 KitKat experiencing the issues but the handsets updating from Android 4.3 build JWR66Y to Android 4.4 build KRT16S via OTA seem to be vulnerable.
There is no such report from Nexus 4’s Indian users who updated their smartphones to Android 4.4 KitKat but updating the device using the factory image posted by Google with wiping data can keep the issues away from Google’s stock Android device.
