After taking a big bite out of smartphone sales with whopping 88.7 % profit this quarter Cupertino major Apple is now looking to dominate wearable market with Apple Watch. The electronic major is expected to unveil its much awaited smartwatch on March 9 and as per Apple officials the wearable will start shipping in early April 2015.
Although it is too early to call Apple Watch a success some analysts believe that Apple Watch will outsell all smart wearable including devices powered by Android Wear. According to researchers at Strategy Analytics “the Apple Watch smartwatch will ship 15 million units worldwide in 2015. Apple will quickly become the world’s number one smartwatch vendor with 55 percent global marketshare this year.”
Despite the fact that Apple Watch will be Cupertino major’s first entry in wearable market the analyst believe that Apple will benefit from its strong fan base and deep retail presence would benefit the almighty Apple to make smartwatch a success.
The analysis report also suggests that overall smartwatch sales percentage may see a significantly growth of 511% in 2015. As per the analysis total 28.1 million Smartwatch units will ship in 2015 compare to mere 4.6 millions in last year.
Apple Watch is undoubtedly one of the most waited wearable but other smartwatches like Moto 360, Pebble, Huawai Watch that provide looks and versatility would also benefit from the boom.
Apple first showcased its ambitious project Apple Watch in September 2014 alongside the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and opened doors for developers.
Analyst also believe that Apple may get a head start with so much anticipation building around Apple Watch but it will have to prove its worth and improve both designs and performance to keep up the lead.
