A flagship killer is not the first word that comes to mind when you think about Chinese smartphone but a newly find mobile company Oneplus is here to change that perception. The China based company recently launched its first flagship model named “OnePlus One” that could kill sales of popular flagship smartphones.
One, the very first smartphone from the company makes a bold entry with specs as good as Google Nexus 5, HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy 5 and almost half the price of these smartphones. While most flagship models cost above $600 this Oneplus flagship comes for just $299. If you are thinking there must be catch you are not lone. We thought the same before we dig deep into the findings of OnePlus One.
Apparently the smartphone has same processor, RAM, LCD display and design elements and internal memory as other high price rivals but somehow manages to shrink the price.
The highlight of the smartphone is its humongous 5.5 inch screen that has 1080p IPS display covered with scratch resistant corning Gorilla glass. OnePlus One packs promising specs like snappy Snapdragon 801 quad core processor which is clocked at 2.5 GHz and 3 GB RAM. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and has 3100 mAh battery that promises to last whole day.
The camera segment in Oneplus One is loaded with 13 megapixels (Sony Exmore IMX214 6 lens) primary camera that can record 4k quality video. The smartphone also sport 5 megapixels front camera which is a hard find even in flagship models. It also sport stereo recording and tri microphone with noise cancelation technology to record quality sound.
OnePlus One comes with on screen gesture control which enhances the touch control of your smartphone but if you prefer security it also allows you to switch to capacitive mode.
OnePlus One is not only high on specs its smooth and sleek design shows that the makers of the smartphone have given attention to small details. Its Styleswap back panels feature textured design for better grip. OnePlus One is currently offering CyanogenMod support but the company is also open for the idea of support from other Chinese mobile makers.
With great flagship class features and appealing price point of $299 OnePlus One is going to be tough rival for big brand flagship models. The Chinese company is allegedly calling its first phone a “2014 Flagship Killer” and it could potentially do justice to its name.
