BlackBerry’s first device to run the company’s BB10 operating software has become more affordable for Indian customers as BlackBerry has slashed the price of its BlackBerry Z10 smartphone once again.
BlackBerry Z10 was launched in India in last February for whopping Rs. 43,490 but in September 2013, the company brought the price down by 31 per cent to Rs. 29,990. Now, the 4.2 inch smartphone is available for just Rs. 17,990 and the company gives credit of the steep price cut to the celebrations of its 10th anniversary in the Indian market. However, the low-price offer is not going to last long as BlackBerry says that the offer is limited for 60 days only.
“Customers can now purchase the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone running the latest BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.1 at a special price of Rs.17,990/- for a period of the next 60 days starting immediately. This special offer reiterates BlackBerry’s commitment towards the Indian market by offering attractive price points for its cutting edge BlackBerry 10 smartphones,” a company release says.
BlackBerry expected to change the smartphone market with the release of its BB10-based devices like BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry Q5, but because of the global lukewarm response, it has to struggle a lot to even clear the inventory.
The Z10 is not the only BB10 smartphone that has gone through price revision in the Indian market. The BlackBerry Q10 and Q5’s prices have also been slashed considerably in the last two month. The Q10 was launched in India, it was put up with a tag of Rs. 44,990, but in December last year, the company cut it down by Rs. 6,000 and now the smartphone is up for grabs at Rs. 38,990. The Q5 prices were also brought down from Rs. 24,990 to Rs. 19,990 last month.
Talking about the new Z10 offer, BlackBerry India’s Managing Director Sunil Lalvani says, “BlackBerry has a vast and loyal user base in India and we’re keen to provide these consumers with the unique communication experience that BlackBerry 10 offers.
This commemorative offer puts the BlackBerry Z10 at Rs. 17,990/- and will ensure users are able to enjoy the cutting edge experience of a full-touch device combined with a revolutionary operating system – all at an attractive price point.”
Mobile Retailer The Mobile Store is already selling the smartphone for promised 17,999 price but not every online retailer has adopted the pattern yet so make sure you look around and seal the best deal.
Although BlackBerry hides it’s try of selling more Z10 and other BB10 devices behind the price cut offers and 10th anniversary celebrations, it can be clearly seen that the company is making way for its BlackBerry Z30 which is expected to hit the markets later this year.
However, be it a celebration or compulsion, if you are getting a BlackBerry Z10 in lesser than BlackBerry Q5’s price, isn’t the deal lucrative enough?
