Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer was all smiles as she introduced a handful of new products of the company at CES Las Vegas Today. Mayer was accompanied by popular TV anchor Katie Couric who has recently joined Yahoo! Network. The young men David Karp founder of blogging site ‘Tumbler’ and Nick D’Aloisio who sold his news app ‘Summly’ to Yahoo! were also present at the stage.
While introducing the new product lineup to the audience Mayer started with Yahoo Tech which is a new technology news publication by Yahoo. Another addition in the company’s web portal is Yahoo Food Channel that would feature recipes and pictures of vast variety of global cuisine.
Mayer also announce a TV plug-in product called Yahoo! Smart TV that features personalized TV programming, personalized videos and web experience.
Ever since Marrisa Mayer took over Yahoo! she has been criticized for doing some drastic changes to revive the reputation of the company. But Mayer stayed firm and clears about her intentions to bring back Yahoo to its golden glory days.
With new news portals and social networking sites like Tumbler in pocket Yahoo is really trying to make it relatable to smartphone users. And Mayer made her intentions clear by mentioning several times that this is a smartphone generation.
Nick D’Aloisio the founder of Yahoo’s new acquisition Summly put on a little presentation to show off the upgrades to Summly. The App now summarize the hot news of day and night and gives you round up of the twice a day.
Another highlight of Mayer’s speech was the part when she spoke about new advertising strategies that will benefit the investers. The newly designed Ad strategy provides more personal option to advertisers working with Yahoo to narrow down right target audience.
