
Facebook has announced a privacy policy change that will enable the teenagers to share their stuff with public. The change has raised a heated debate over the possibility of increasing cases of online bullying and crime against children. Earlier the social network had only allowed the teenagers to share their stuff with friends and friends of friends.
However, Facebook is trying to pose these changes as more freedom to the teenagers but in a way the social network has opened another door for marketing. The company claims the policy change will allow the talented teenagers to reach a bigger audience but experts fear the exposure could have negative effect.
To defend their move Facebook also said that many other networks like twitter, blogs and various social websites already let the teenagers to share publically. And Facebook will be just another social media network to do so but experts and parents see it differently. The social network also said that it is planning on educating teenagers about the effects of sharing their personal information publically.
A lot of teenagers use their real name personal details and photos on Facebook which is not the case with many other social networks. This will expose the teenagers to the predators who are looking to lure these innocent children with cheesy traps.
The announcement comes few days after Google has announced to share the personal information of its users with advertisers. Clearly, Facebook is feeling the heat as rival Google and Twitter ate gearing up to make more and more money by marketing.
