In it’s another attempt to compete its arch rival Twitter the social media site Facebook has launched two new real time coversation features to its search tool on Monday. The new addition will allow media houses like news, sports and entertainment organizations more details about the real time conversation as it occur on Facebook.
Initially Facebook will be allowing a few media partners to access the inside details through the latest feature. For now only CNN, Buzzfeed, NBC Today Show, Sky Tv, Slate will have access to the posts with popular trends that have been made public by the users. While another added feature in the search tool called “Keyword Insight API “ will allow these media houses to access users demographic information like age, gender and location. The social media hub also hinted that more media partners will be joining in pretty soon.
To prove its point to the users Facebook has posted some figures on its blog that shows that most users log into their Facebook account between prime time (8pm-11pm). The numbers also shows that the social network registered about 245 million interactions during the Superbowl in February this year.
With this initiative Facebook is trying to clench the title of the hub of discussion from Twitter which holds the crown for the most popular conversation platform. The latest development might help Facebook to step up in the race but the social network has a long way to beat Twitter in Real time conversation.
