Ice Cream Sandwich, Key Lime Pie and Jelly Bean; Google always surprise us with unique names for its operating system but this time the company has done the unexpected. The yummy Google Android family just got a new chocolaty, waffery member in the family and it’s called Android KitKat. That’s right the 4.4 Android is going to be called as ‘KitKat’ after the famous snack of renowned Swiss company Nestle.
The critics are calling on Google for taking their marketing strategies too far this time but Google has announced it as a non-marketing move. According to Google no money-making ideas were part of the decision. Both Google and Nestle had no business deals for naming the next Android as KitKat. As the first move to establish the product, Google has already posted big Android robot made with KitKat outside their offices. The giant chocolate-coated wafer structures look really attractive but we wonder what measures Google has done to protect the big Android robot from chocolate lovers.
To promote its new operating system, Google has launched a campaign with Nestle. If you buy a KitKat bar that has an Android Robot on the wrapper, you get a chance to win Google’s tablet Nexus 7 or can win credits for Google Play store. We have always been impressed with the tasty treats by Android maker and with the name like KitKat we hope Android 4.4 would be more delicious.
