Google’s much talked about head computer Google Glass is finally going to be available for public purchase but only for one day. The web leader announced the news on its social network platform Google+ saying that the Glass will be available for $1500.
“Next Tuesday, April 15th at 6am PDT, we’re opening up some spots in the Glass Explorer Program. Any adult in the US* can become an Explorer by visiting our site and purchasing Glass for $1500 + tax – and it now comes with your favorite shade or frame, thanks to feedback from our current Explorers.” Google Glass shared on Google plus.
By launching it to public for a day Google is trying to sense public sentiments for Glass in the wearable market. Although, Google’s head computer has been creating a lot of buzz in the technology world thanks to its innovative design at $1500 it is still going to be a pricey possession for many.
According to Google the one day Glass buying offer is only going to be available in US residents with limited stock. According to Google “The number of spots available is limited, so mark your calendar if you want to get in. You can find us on Tuesday at: http://google.com/glass/start/how-to-get-one”
Surprisingly, the developed version of Glass costs the same as the Glass prototype which was first made public about a year ago. Tech gurus have been speculating that Google will bring down the price of Glass to make it appealing to a larger consumer market but Google doesn’t seem to be in any such mood right now.
If you go by the Google blogpost this upcoming version of Google Glass doesn’t seem to be the final version. “Every day we get requests from those of you who haven’t found a way into the program yet, and we want your feedback too. So in typical Explorer Program fashion, we’re trying something new.” Google noted
So there is still chance that the web major might bring down the price of final version of Glass Glass when it will be ready to launch it at a large scale.
