The pop up YouTube ads you can’t wait to skip to proceed to your favorite video are now going to make money for Google. The web master has introduced “TrueView” a new addition to the video ads that allows viewers to purchase the showcased items by click of a button.
While most YouTube users often find the pop up ads irrelevant sometimes the advertisement do speak to the viewers. And Google is looking to mint gold with those micro moments when an advertisement interests its users. Of course Google will also pass on the profit sharing to Adsense users and if you are one of those people it’s time to break in to your happy dance.
Google’s Adwords blog explains the new addition in detail. “TrueView for shopping allows you to showcase product details and images – along with the ability to click to purchase from a brand or retail site – all within your video ad. It’s available for TrueView in-stream video ads on YouTube.”
Small screen now make up for a huge chunk of Google ad revenue so TrueView will be coming to big and small devices at the same time. As the blog mentions “Since we know that 50% of views on YouTube come from mobile devices, we’ve made sure that it works seamlessly across mobile phones, desktops, and tablets.”
The new ad format runs on Google’s recently announced cards platform. The format enables advertisers to connect with Google Merchant Center and handpick products that could be linked with their video steaming ads. TrueView promises great potential for advertisers but if you are standing on the wrong side get ready to donate more ad space to Google on your screen.
