Just after the release of the iOS 6.1.3 the jailbreak fraternity announced that they will not be going after the OS to find out vulnerabilities in the Apple’s mobile operating software that will lead to an untethered jailbreak.
The announcement broke hearts of many people who believe in jailbreaking their iDevices in order to enjoy unlimited fun and freedom given them by Cydia store. However, the jailbreak fans have something to cheer about as another well-known developer Wincom has announced the arrival of untethered iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak.
The Cydia worshippers will have to wait to get their hands on the latest untethered jailbreak as, according to its founder, it needs some more work.
Winocm took to his Twitter account to declare his latest finding tweeting, “I now have a binary that untethers 6.1.3. Needs some more work though.”
The developer also made it clear that his jailbreak will not be working on iOS 7 or any of its Betas and he doesn’t care about it as there are other people to take care of iOS 7 jailbreak.
We anticipate that this new jailbreak will work only in pre A5 devices as there is already a tethered jailbreak available for them.
iDevices running iOS 6.1.3 can be tethered jailbroken with Sn0wbreeze 2.9.14, but your device should be a pre-A5 Apple product. If you own an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPod touch (5th generation) or iPad Mini, then the jailbreak is going to disappoint you.
Here are 15 easy steps to jailbreak your iPhones, iPads and iPods with Sn0wbreeze 2.9.14.
The Sn0wbreeze 2.9.14 is a tethered jailbreak for A4 devices on iOS 6.1.3 (3GS old bootroms are untethered as usual).
To jailbreak you will need the following:
1: An Apple device pre-A5 iOS device
2: A Windows PC
3: A USB cable to plug your device to the PC
You need to download:
1: Sn0wbreeze version 2.9.14. [Download link]
2: iOS 6.1.3 for your device.
If you already have the iOS 6.1.3 file for your device in your PC then remember the location. If you don’t have the file, don’t worry, Sn0wbreeze will help you download and find the file later in the jailbreak process.
Now you are all set for the big task and after following some easy steps you will find your device able to enjoy the amazing world of Cydia.
Before we start, you should always remember that jailbreak is not supported by Apple nor any of the carriers, so after jailbreaking you would not be able to claim the warranty for your device if anything goes wrong, as jailbreaking voids the warranty of your device.
Once you get ready with all the things required for the jailbreak, follow the guide given below:
1: Unzip the downloaded Sn0wbreeze folder and extract the file.
2: Launch the Sn0wbreeze application.
3: Click the blue arrow button given at the right bottom.
4: If you already have an iOS 6.1.3 file in your PC, click “Brows for an IPSW.” If you don’t have the file, then download the file by clicking “Download iOS Firmwares.”
5: Select your device and iOS version and click on Start Download. If you already have the file, you can skip this step.
6: After downloading the file select it and click Ok.
7: If you are not an expert and not familiar with depth of jailbreaking, click Simple Mode, as it is always recommended.
8: Now the program is building the IPSW which is going to take a little longer. So you can either play PacMan or wait for it, watching the spinner.
9: After finishing this, the new IPSW will be stored on your desktop for future use.
10: Plug your iPhone into the computer and don’t forget to keep it OFF. Don’t click the Next button until Slide to Power Off appears and the device is switched off.
11: Sn0wbreeze will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode.
This is the crucial stage where you have to be very alert to perform three tricky steps:
A: Hold down the Power button for 2 seconds.
B: Without releasing Power button, hold down the Home button also for 10 seconds.
C: Without releasing the Home button, release the Power button, and keep holding the Home button for 15 seconds until Sn0wbreeze detects the device.
12: Launch iTunes with keeping the device connected to your PC.
13: Once iTunes detects the device in recovery mode, click Restore with holding down the shift key.
14: Select the custom firmware file from your desktop.
15: Once the device is restored, your device will boot with Cydia installed.
