Micromax Mobile, the desi mobile company which currently manufactures its phones in China is planning to start assembling its phones in India by early 2014. The co-founder of Micromax India Rahul Sharma shared the news with PTI (Press Trust of India). Micromax currently build and assemble its phones in China with the help of other manufacturing companies but the practice is about to change soon as it already have an assembly plant set up in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand for trial.
The mobile company has recently launched its full HD phone called Micromax Canvas Turbo and hired the Wolverine fame Hollywood star Hugh Jackman to endorse it. With big Hollywood star on the side Micromax is trying to catch eyeballs and establish themselves as a big name smartphone makers in India.
Micromax has built quite a reputation in little time and its low budget smartphone are becoming very popular among first time smartphone buyers in India. The domestic Mobile maker became a 3,168 Crore company last year and it is hoping to twofold it by the end of this year.
Although Micromax is new to mobile business its budget yet stylish phones are becoming a great alternative for consumers with small budget. Surprisingly, Micromax has emerged as the second largest mobile selling company in India this quarter with more than 2 million units shipped for sell.
The mobile company is also planning to spread its wings by exploring the European mobile market which has great potential for budget phones. Co- Founder of the company Rahul Sharma said that Micromax will start selling its phones in Russia soon which will be the first step to enter the European market.
Micromax also joined hands with Aircel in September to speed up its mobile sell in the country. All Micromax canvas models have preloaded BMM apps and plenty of cool features that make this desi mobile maker stand out. Most of mid budget smartphone from Micromax runs on Android Jelly Bean that make it a lucrative option in Indian Mobile market.
