Microsoft Corporation, which is now short listing big heads to select the successor of its chief executive officer (CEO) Steve Ballmer, has included an Indian born candidate in the list.
The company’s Executive Vice President for Cloud and Enterprises Group, Satya Nadella, is one of the people the software giant can pick for the top post.
Satya, the engineering graduate from Manipal University, has been with Microsoft since 1992 and is the man behind developing and successfully running the company’s next generation cloud computing platform – Cloud OS.
After graduating from Manipal University, Satya went to the US to pursue his masters in computer science from the University of Wisconsin and then went on earning an MBA degree from the University of Chicago.
Apart from Satya, there is a list of top guns who are expecting their names on the entrance of Ballmer’s cabin.
There are two more candidates within the company whose names are also up in the race to replace Ballmer, who is expected to hang up his shoes in some months.
Microsoft’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kevin Turner is the second from the technology company’s corridor who is in competition with the Hyderabad lad Satya Nadella. The third one in the race is Microsoft’s business development head Tony Bates.
Apart from these three, Microsoft list also contains names of Ford Motor chief Alan Mulally and former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop.
It’s still not official that all these names are in the final list and there is no word about the length of the list also but the people talking about these people are very familiar with the entire selection process.
There are also reports that Microsoft’s board responsible for the selection has also spoken to senior leaders like Qi Lu, head of Bing search engine and Microsoft Office, and Terry Myerson who oversees company’s Windows operations.
