Apple surprised the technology world when it launched new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with the same old 8 megapixels sensor with major improvements on design and functioning. More surprisingly while the Cupertino based tech giant hasn’t raised the size of megapixels in its smartphone camera from last 4 years it’s smartphone still manage to get high praise from tech gurus thanks to Apple’s innovative camera design.
Although, tech pundits were expecting upgraded 13 megapixels camera in iPhone 6 most were all praise when they got to see newly developed 8 megapixels iPhone 6 and 6 Plus camera in action.
Now it seems Apple is planning the biggest camera jump in the history in the next gen iPhone, at least Apple Insider John Gruber think so. On the latest episode of The Talk Show podcast
Gruber said “The specific thing I heard is that next years camera might be the biggest camera jump ever, I don’t even know what sense this makes, but I’ve heard that it’s some kind of weird two-lens system where the back camera uses two lenses and it somehow takes it up into DSLR quality imagery.”
However, the two lens theory is not new and we have seen it in action in HTC’s flagship model HTC One and some other smartphones but none of them have DSLR like design. If there is some truth to the insider leak the DSLR like camera may be the biggest selling feature of the next gen iPhone. And if that happens Apple will certainly gain upper hand within camera frenzy Smartphone consumers. But as we all know the next generation Apple iPhone6S or iPhone 7 whatever it may be called is months away so its too early to have a final say on the design of next iPhone
