Here is some good news for WhatsApp users who had been looking for the much awaited voice calling option in the instant messaging app.
According to reports, WhatsApp users on Android can now activate the voice calling feature even if the company is yet to release the new version of the app which will come with the new feature.
As all of us know that WhatsApp has already released the new version with the voice calling feature to some of the users so it can test and make the application better with the new changes, the users with t the voice calling feature can help others get the new voice calling option.
If you are an Android WhatsApp user and using the 2.11.561 version of the app, all you need is one buddy who has got the voice calling feature in his or her WhatsApp. Once you find that friend of yours, you are all set to get the new feature.
Ask the friend to make a WhatsApp voice call to your device and once you receive the call just drop the call.
Close the application, go back to WhatsApp. Now you will get a new tab ‘Calls’ in your panel menu.
Now you can make VoIP calls to any of your WhatsApp contact given that the contact is also running the same 2.11.561 version of the application.
As of now this is the only way you can get the voice calling feature in your Android WhatsApp. The options is not going to be available for iOS as WhatsApp is yet to roll the APK for Apple’s mobile operating system.
People who are craving to get their hands on the voice calling option should beware of the ongoing spam in the name of WhatsApp.
Techloon, some days ago, learnt that many users are getting an invitation that asks them to try the new voice calling feature by clicking on an embedded link. The link simply takes you to a survey page where it asks you to send invites to 10 of your WhatsApp contacts in order to ‘Continue’ with the survey.
Once the invitations are sent and you click on the ‘Continue’ button, the next step is to download different apps, watch some adverts and at the end you get no voice calling feature.
