Samsung has launched a new mid range smartphone dubbed as Galaxy Core 2 to compete the likes of Moto G, Micromax Canvas and Sony Xperia M. The smartphone sports 4.5 inch 480X800p TFT display and runs on latest Android 4.4 KitKat that has a layer of Samsung TouchWiz UI on the top.
The best news in the smartphone is budget friendly price point of Rs 11,900 which may lure Samsung fan boys towards this not so specs friendly phone. Considering the fact that Galaxy Core 2 is the successor of Galaxy Core which was launched last year for a much higher price range of Rs 15,999 its clear that Samsung has price Core 2 to compete in the hotbed of Indian mobile market.
Galaxy Core 2 offers lucrative price that’s slightly lower compare to Moto G (12,499 for 8GB) but the specs of Core doesn’t add up to Motorola midrange monster. Although, the smartphone matches Moto G’s quad core 1.2 GHz processor it only offers 4 GB internal memory and 768 MB RAM compare to 8 GB internal storage and 1 GB RAM in Moto G.
Galaxy Core 2 has 5 Megapixels primary camera that has autofocus and LED flash, geo tagging, face and smile detection and features. Samsung has also placed a VGA camera at the front for selfie lovers.
In the connectivity segment the smartphone feature dual sim functionality which has become a sellout feature in the midrange models. It covers the basics like Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G connectivity and FM Radio.
Samsung may dominate the high end market in India but the midrange market is slowly slipping away from its pocket. The Korean electronics giant has launched many mid range smartphone since the arrival of Moto G but none of them match or beat the hot picks in the low budget market.
