The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch finally received the much needed upgrades which were needed to make the gear more practical for users. The South Korean electronic major first announced the smartwatch in September and it instantly became the talk of town.
However, the watch is only compatible with very latest Samsung devices and just showed notifications from Samsung Apps at the time of launch. As a result, users were not able to check their emails and other social network notifications on their Galaxy Gear, except Samsung email. But the new upgrades announced by the company indicates that all that is going to change from today onward.
According to Samsung’s fans website Sammobile Galaxy Gear would be getting a range of updates including Android Jelly Bean 4.3. The report says that now users will be able to select apps from which they would like to receive notification on their smartwatch.
This means you will be able to see your new mail in Gmail, hangout notification, Tweeter updates and receive latest notes from Evernote.
Galaxy Gear had been criticized for limiting the users to samsung’s world but with this new updates Samsung is definitely trying to change that perception. The galaxy gear is available at retailers for $299 in US and 22,999 in Indian market.
