Samsung has finally taken the wraps off Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones in Barcelona just a day ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015.
As analysts and tech rumours had it Samsung has come out with a curved display for the Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone which it believes going to change the game in the international market.
Before going into specifications of the two new flagship smartphones from the Korean tech giant, we will just tell you that Samsung has done away with couple of features that many of the Sammy fans loved.
First thing to disappoint Galaxy fans is the extendable memory. Samsung has come out with a new Apple-like strategy and going to sell the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB versions without giving the option of a microSD card support. The second one is the battery. The batteries of both the device are glued to the devices and users will not be able to replace them.
In support of the battery fixation, Samsung CEO JK Shin says that faster charging and better battery life will win hearts of the users of these smartphones. According to him, Samsung Galaxy S6 takes just half the time of iPhone 6 to reach the 100% battery level.
Samsung has kept the size of the two devices at 5.1 inch just like the Galaxy S5. But the display has been upgraded to quad HD Super AMOLED display with 2560×1440 resolution and 577 ppi pixel density. The display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4.
Both, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7420 octa-core processor. Exynos 7420 is a combination of quad-core Cortex-A53 and quad-core Cortex-A57 processors clocked at 1.5 GHz and 2.1 GHz respectively. The RAM of the smartphone is kept at 3 GB.
The camera section of the devices looks stunning with a 16 megapixel primary camera. The secondary camera is of 5 megapixels and it is surely going to be loved by selfie lovers.
Design wise the Samsung Galaxy S6 has not got much upgrade but it has obviously got lighter than its predecessor. However, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has got unique design with its curved edges.
