In an aggressive move to reach the top position in the Indian mobile market desi mobile maker Micromax appoints Samsung India chief Vineet Taneja as new CEO. Rumors of Taneja joining the second biggest mobile company in India were doing rounds for weeks and today a report on TOI has confirm the buzz.
Micromax must be aiming big success with one of the most successful name in the business joining their firm to lead as the Chief Executive Officer. Taneja leaving Samsung to join Micromax is certainly a big setback for the Korean electronics giant Samsung that captures biggest space in Indian mobile market.
Taneja’s departure would possibly be the second biggest blow for Samsung after its Mobile design chief’s resignation earlier this month which created a buzz in the technology world. Report indicate that the marketing and design team of Samsung took a hit due to cold response for new Samsung Galaxy S5 in the market.
Vineet Taneja who has decades of experience in the Mobile market can bring a lot to the table for Micromax Mobile. Big fish of electronic market joining growing firm seem bizarre but we have seen the similar trend in global market way too often. Hopefully, the former Samsung India chief can do the same for Micromax Mobile what Google’s fame boy Hugo Barra did for Chinese mobile Xiaomi (or even better).
Indian mobile maker Micromax quicly rose to success after launching their forst set of budget phones back in 2010. In the span of 4 years the company has captured a huge chunk of Indian market and now it’s eyeing a global share in the untapped budget smartphone market.
Recently the company hired Wolverine fame Hollywood start Huge Jackman to promote its HD smartphone canvas turbo which added to its brand value. Vineet Taneja’s addition in Micromax team will also be a big brand booster for Micromax but what Taneja actually brings to Micromax is something we will have to wait and watch.
