Xiaomi has always been considered as “Apple of the East” as the Chinese company follows the footsteps of the Cupertino-based tech giant as far as its devices are concerned. However, it seems that Xiaomi has gone one step ahead from its present stance and has started following Apple in the user interface as well.
Xiaomi announced its MiUI 6 saying that the whole new operating software based on Google’s Android has gone into developer testing. The new OS is expected to arrive on Xiaomi’s record-maker device Xiaomi Mi3 and the upcoming Xiaomi Mi4 later this year.
The new operating software does look like Apple’s iOS 7 operating system with flatter design, instead of MiUI 5’s skeumorphic design. However, we can also see it as a way of preparing for upcoming Android L as the new version of Android is supposed to have a clean design and flatter UI.
The MiUI 6 is a combination of flat icons and vibrant colours on a white background that makes its looks simple and elegant.
The phone call application comes with new features like one that lets you identify unknown numbers so you can block or reject them. The function is an intelligent adoption of the method which is being used by Truecalller to identifying and marking the callers.
A new function in the calling app is called IVR. IVR is basically your one-click access to customer service that lets you make voice service calls very conveniently.
It’s often troublesome to check service hotlines for credit card bills, or other functions. It takes at least a couple of minutes of lengthy voice prompts to get to where you want to go. With MIUI IVR system, this can be replaced with a visual menu.
Apart from calling app there are so many changes in the calendar, Home Screen, notifications and other applications and functions of the MiUI 6 operating system. But there is nothing more to say because almost all of it is taken from iOS 7.
