When world’s heavyweight technology companies like Apple Inc and HTC were locking horns to make the world’s lightest smartphone, Indian mobile manufacturer Xolo seems to be winning the battle with its Windows Phone debut – Xolo Win Q900S.
Xolo Win Q900S is Xolo’s first device running on Windows Phone 8.1 and will be somewhere in direct competition with another Indian company Mircromax’s Canvas Win W092 and Canvas Win W121.
The new Xolo Win Q900S is going to be available in second week of July, but the preorders for the device have already started on company’s website as well as online retailer Snapdeal.
The device comes with a 4.7 inch HD IPS touch display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The display is protected with a scratch resistant Dragon Trail Glass and come with 5 fingers support.
The Xolo Win Q900S is powered by Qualcomm’s reliable quad-core Snapdragon 200 CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz. The graphics of the smartphone are also going to be quite decent with Qualcomm’s Adreno 302 graphic processing unit packed inside.
When it comes to the memory of the device, Xolo Win Q900S has 8GB of inbuilt storage space that can be enhanced up to 32 GB with the help of a microSD card.
Functioning of Xolo Win Q900S is going to be very smooth as the company boosts a Windows Phone device with 1 GB RAM which is quite a lot in terms of a device running Windows Phone 8.1 OS onboard.
Windows Phone devices consume lesser RAM when compared to Android as the Windows OS takes lesser space in terms of installation and functioning. Nokia’s high end Lumia smartphone, Nokia Lumia 720 also comes with only 512 MB of RAM.
In terms of camera, Xolo Win Q900S will not be able to compete with Nokia Lumia device for obvious reasons; still the new entry into the Windows Phone market sports a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash light and a 2 megapixel camera on the front.
The device is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 which comes with personalized user interface with live tiles, single step access to favourite apps and faster swift typing experience with Word Flow keyboard.
Most of the Indian companies keep the pricing of the smartphones as the key selling point of their product, but Xolo has got something else for the Xolo Win Q900S.
Weight is going to be the devices biggest advantage at Xolo Win Q900S weighs only 100 grams in total. The Xolo Win Q900S has beaten Apple and HTC in making the lightest smartphone. Apple’s iPhone 5S weighs 107 grams while HTC’s HTC Desire 500 is of 123 grams.
The pricing is also going to be one of the key factors for Xolo Win Q900S. The device is available on preorders on the company’s website for Rs 11,999 but Snapdeal is offering it for just Rs 9,999 as an introductory offer. However the ecommerce website has limited stock of just 5000 devices.
