Google Chromecast gave a tough fight to Apple TV and Roku as the HD streaming stick came way cheaper than its rival. However, the Google product is going be more ruthless in the market as Google releases Chromecast 1.7 version with more features and better connectivity.
The Chromecast 1.7 version updated lets your Chromecast stick stream any program from your Android device to your HD TV. So far, people who wanted to mirror their Android phone functions on to their television sets were to use a workaround app to do so, but now the Chromecast version 1.7 has brought this function as an inbuilt feature.
If you always wished to see the pictures and videos saved into your Android smartphone on a bigger screen, you were forced to go for a longer route by saving the pictures into your PC and take them out in a thumbdrive and then connect that to your HD TV.
However, the new version of Chromecast will make this entire process redundant and make the mirroring of your Android phone on a TV completely hassle free.
Though the function is still in beta stage and being tested on different levels, it is expected to be rolled out for Chromecast users pretty soon.
Talking about the new functions of the new version of Chromecast, Ambarish Kenghe, Product Manager and Cast Master of Chromecast says, “Chromecast makes it easy for you to enjoy your favorite entertainment on the biggest screen in the house. Starting today, you can mirror your Android phone and tablet to the TV so you can see your favorite apps, photos or anything else, exactly as you see it on your mobile device—only bigger. To start mirroring, simply select ‘Cast Screen’ from the navigation drawer in the Chromecast app and select your Chromecast device. On Nexus devices, this feature is also available through the quick settings menu.”
This new feature coming with the Chromecast version 1.7 will be a brilliant option to make your TV a perfect multimedia platform with enjoying all the entertainment apps from your smartphone. However, expected this function to support real-time gaming experience will be too much to ask for at this point of time.
As there will be a difference of time when anything gets streamed from your phone to Chromecast and then from Chromecast to the bigger screen, the particular time lag will affect the gaming experience if you try your smartphone gaming app with Chromecast mirroring. However, it will not be long when developers work up on this particular point and bring an update for it.
