Google has become a synonym to web search over the years but for the first time since 2011 yahoo has managed to beat Google in monthly traffic. In surprising news by ComScore’s Media Metric a company that tracks traffic on US websites Yahoo has received more number of visitors compare to Google in the month of July.
According to the reports Yahoo top the chart with 196.6 million unique visitors while Google came second with 192. 3 million visitors registered last month. Although, it is not sheer comparison between just Yahoo and Google as the data also include the traffic on other websites owned by both companies.
The pleasing news for Yahoo came right after the company acquired ‘tumbler’ which is one of the most visited blog site in the United States. However, according to the reports ComScore did not include tumber in Yahoo’s traffic list.
Yahoo has been in the top websites list for quit a while but topping the chart is a sure sign that things are looking bright for the company. Perhaps it is a result of the drastic changes that Yahoo’s new CEO Marissa Mayer made in the company lately.
On the other hand the numbers are no direct threat to Google as Yahoo is nowhere close to Google in terms of generating revenues from their visitors. Also the ComScore records do not include visits from mobile phones where Google is a leader.
