The Era of Apple wearable will begin this April as CEO Tim Cook confirms that the Apple Watch will begin shipping from the month of April this year. While speaking at the event on Apple’s quarterly earning call Cook confirmed that Apple Watch development is going as scheduled and the much awaited wearable will be out in market by first quarter of 2015.
Apple first showcased its ambitious project smartwatch during the launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus back in September 2014 and it was said to be released in early 2015. Given the “early 2015” timeline most tech gurus were expecting the Apple Watch to hit the market by Feb-March but now it appears the wait will be a little longer than anticipated.
Apple Watch might be a late arrival in the growing wearable market but it is expected to put up a fierce fight with Android Gear powered wearables from Motorola, Samsung, LG etc. While speaking about the much anticipated wearable during the event Tim Cook also said that his expectations are very high for Apple Watch.
The fashion friendly Apple Watch will come in three different variants noted as basic, sports and edition. All three styles share the same rectangular dial but the first one boast stainless steel case, sapphire crystal ceramic back panel.
On the other hands sporty Apple Watch variant is more rugged with lightweight anodized aluminum case paired with Ion X glass and colorful fluoroelastomer bands. Edition variant has a luxury feel to it thanks to its pretty 18 karate cold case that speaks to the female consumers. The edition version display is covered with polished sapphire crystal.
Apple Watch comes in two sizes of 38mm and 42 mm and starts at $345 however added features and edition variant may run as high as couple of thousand dollars.
