If you are one of the people who were disappointed when WhatsApp introduced the double blue ticks, then here is one of the biggest news for you.
The two troubling ticks that indicated the ‘seen’ or ‘read’ of the messages sent, will not be a compulsion for the sender as the new version of the messenger is going make the function optional.
The new version of WhatsApp 2.11.448 is going to be delivered to the users with the read receipt disable option just like the way it’s ‘Last Seen’ option works.
“If you turn off read receipts, you won’t be able to see read receipts from other people. Read receipts are always sent for group chats,” the notification reads.
The new option will not be available for group chats and people in group chats will be able to see the read receipts.
The latest version of WhatsApp with the read receipts disable function is available for Android devices only. The updated version is available on the website only and it is expected to reach Google Play store very soon.
The iOS and Windows Phone users of WhatsApp are going to be very disappointed as the privacy feature, as of now, is not available for their devices. However, they shouldn’t lose their heart because WhatsApp is not going to discriminate against them and an update with the new feature will be out pretty soon.
According to a report from AndroidPolice, the new version of WhatsApp will be available with the Android 5.0 Lollipop and it will come with a new heads-up notifications settings.
