Samsung and Apple lawsuit takes an interesting turn when the South Koran company agrees that it copied Apple’s patents and offered $52 M in the settlement.
Samsung and Apple again met in court today as Apple fight to fetch around $320 million from the South Korean company for copying its patent. Earlier the court had ordered Samsung to pay $1.05 billion to Cupertino based Apple for damaging the sales of more than 13 models by copying features from iPad and iPhone.
Later a judge found out that the jury has miscalculated the numbers and Samsung should pay additional money to Apple and ordered a new trial. Apple is accusing Samsung for replicating their dozens patents like the Bounce and Scroll feature that was first introduced in iPad and IPhone.
However, Samsung is not ready to give up the whopping amount of money that easily. Samsung attorney Bill Price countered McIlhenny argument by saying most of Samsung devices sell due to its Google powered Android operating system which is different from iOS.
Samsung attorney agrees to the fact that Samsung has copied Apple’s patent technology but he insisted that the differences in Apple and Samsung devices finally decide the sell of their gadgets. The company is offering Apple $52 million in the settlement while apple is demanding for $450 milion for it.
Certainly, both companies have totally different approach and lawsuits are bound to happen when they are constantly fighting for first spot in world’s smartphone market. You can often find Samsung bashing Apple’s latest products and calling Apple fans the members of a cult, like in the video below
Sure, Apple wins most of the battles in court and brings back money from Samsung but outside the court it is failing to beat Samsung to capture no 1 spot. And that’s something that should worry the Cupertino based smartphone makers who has enjoyed the first spot for years.
