The Japanese electronics major has launched ultra slim big screen smartphone Sony Xperia T3 in India for the price of 27,990. Sony Xperia T3 is the successor of last year launched 6 inch phablet T2 but Sony has cut down the screen size to fit Xperia T3 into the smartphone category.
The smartphone has gorgeous 5.3 inch screen with Bravia display in a mirror plus metallic body wrapped around a stainless steel frame. With barely 7.7 mm thickness and 148 gm weight Sony is endorsing it to be world’s slimmest smartphone but that wouldn’t be entirely true.
Sony has transformed its latest TV technology display in the 5.3 inch screen of Xperia T3 with Triluminos display for mobile for more natural looking colors. Sony Xperia T3 sport 13.5 cm 1280X720p IPS display that may look slightly better than average mid range smartphone thanks to Sony’s real time contrast optimization Mobile Bravia Engine 2.
The midrange smartphone packs powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.4 GHz Quad core processor that is supported by 1 GB RAM. Sony Xperia T3 comes with 8 GB internal memory onboard and a micro SD slot to expand the memory for up to 32 GB. The device runs on latest Android 4.4 Kitkat.
Sony has smartly put an 8 megapixels rear camera in the slim design of Xperia T3 that is equipped with Exmore RS technology which might help or better shot in bad light. Camera being Sony’s most selling feature Xperia T3’s camera features superior Auto focus to support HDR photo and video recording for clear picture.
The steady shot feature in the camera takes stable pictures and records HDR videos at the same time. Various useful photo editing apps are also part of Xperia T3’s appealing camera feature.
In the connectivity segment Sony Xperia T3 support 2G and 3G network connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Miracast, aGPS and has powerful 2600 mAh battery. Sony Xperia T3 come preloaded with lots of useful Android Apps like Google Maps with street View option, Sony select, Google Voice Search and Google Play.
Sony get a lot of things right in this mid range model but it the smartphone would have had bigger appeal if it was priced to sell. With so many Android players in the market downplaying the processor, RAM and camera might work against Sony. The smartphone is already up for preorders and will start selling in Indian from July 27.
