When WhatsApp hit the world of mobile Internet, the application was just another entry into the already cluttered social media and communication space that saw three debutant application every almost every two days.
However, the messaging app found its way above all the rivals and rose to a level where Facebook picked it up for millions of dollars; and that happened all because of the simplicity of WhatsApp.
Recent developments in the testing domain of WhatsApp’s web version suggest that the application is going to go through a major overhaul. The WhatsApp Web, according to reports, will feature a Facebook styled ‘Like’ button as well as ‘Mark Read’ and ‘Mark Unread’ buttons.
One of the German testers working on WhatsApp Web’s beta version tweeted about the upcoming ‘Like’ button that allows you to like your friends’ pictures. However, the button will not work for a conversation of text.
Other things the rumours are hinting at are the ‘Mark Read’ and ‘Mark Unread’ buttons like all the mail services.
The marking options don’t exactly work with the current features of WhatsApp as it already has the blue tick indicator to mark the conversation read for the receiver.
The biggest point here is to keep it simple and the ‘Like’ button basically brings the whole publicity war from Facebook to WhatsApp where users are more carefree than its parent company.
However, it’s completely up to the users what they want.
