Samsung Google Play Galaxy S4 devices have started getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update. But the Korean tech giant has not spoken anything about the release of Android 4.4 KitKat update for its other devices like Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Note 3.
Google has already rolled out the latest Android update for Nexus devices like Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. Other smartphone makers like Motorola, LG and HTC have also joined the race, at least, by announcing their Android 4.4 KitKat release plans for their different handsets.
It was very easy for the Google Play versions of Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update just after the Nexus devices as these two devices are made for Vanilla Android and they deserve to get the updates in advance. However, the silence of Galaxy device maker Samsung over the KitKat update is still not going down well with the users of Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 2 users.
Recently a leaked document suggested that Samsung is going to start rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 smartphones in the month of January and the udpate will be released for Galaxy S3 and Note 2 devices somewhere in March or April.
The document was leaked by iTechAddict, and the Indian users of Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Note 3 and Note 2 will be very happy as the leaked document is apparently coming from a Samsung R&D centre in India.
However, Samsung has not issued any official statement about its plans of rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat for non Google Play devices.
Apart from the Nexus and Google Play edition of Galaxy S4 and HTC One, Moto X has also started getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update over-the-air (OTA). While HTC One and HTC One Max are expected to get the upgrade in early January.
