Reliance Jio has been making heat waves ever since its inception, offering users unlimited calls and Internet usage for free. Strengthening its hold over its customers, the company announced a “Jio Summer Surprise”, which offers three months of complimentary services to users who sign up for their Jio Prime Plan. The plan costs Rs. 99 and users are expected to do a recharge of Rs. 303 or higher to avail this offer.
Initially, the last date to subscribe for this plan was March 31, 2017. However, the mobile carrier has extended the date to April 15, 2017. One reason for this could be the network congestion. Due to the heavy demand and rush to subsribe, the lines of Reliance have been jammed and it’s next to impossible to sign up for the plan at the first attempt.
Many users have reported that even after signing up for the Rs.99 plan, they get a message saying the recharge is pending. Once the sign-up is completed, it’s another task to complete a recharge transaction of Rs. 303 or more. This is because everyone is trying to get their hands on the Jio Prime Plan.
The company is hopeful that this extension will clear up the network and all Jio users interested in this plan will get a fair chance to subscribe. However, up until last evening, the networks were still congested. Even sites like Paytm and Freecharge throw up an error message, saying network for the current operator is currently down.
How To Get Jio’s Free Services for Three More Months
As mentioned earlier, Jio users will have to subscribe to the Jio Prime Plan to enjoy Jio’s free services for the next three months (April, May and June). Post this, users need to recharge with the Rs 303 plan or more.
Users can sign up for the plan and do the recharge via MyJio app and Jio.com. On the MyJio app, users need to select the Menu at the left side, click on the Jio Prime option, select “Get Jio Prime” and do the recharge. Users can use their credit/debit cards, Paytm wallet or JioMoney wallet to make payments. Alternatively, users can also walk in to Jio’s offline store.
Reliance Jio crossed the 100 million customers mark in February, 2017. According to stats revealed by the company, 72 million of its customers have signed up for the Prime plan in one month.
“JIO PRIME offers many attractive benefits – the absolute best data tariffs in the industry, free voice calling, access to all Jio apps, and many more periodic surprises going forward. JIO PRIME members will always get the very best of what Jio has to offer. In just one month, over 72 MILLION (and still counting!) Jio customers have signed up for JIO PRIME. We, at Jio, are honoured and grateful for this tremendous response,” Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said in a open letter to Jio Users.
The Summer offer includes unlimited data, SMS, apps and JioNet WiFi apart from unlimited HD voice and video.
