Google gave us a sneak peak into the new Android Operating system 5.0 dubbed as Android L in its big Google I/O 2014 conference. Although Google did not elaborate on many exciting features of new OS but with big overhaul in user interface, new material design and highly intuitive features this is biggest change Android has received in last 4 years.
3D Material Design Interface:
Android L has a totally revamped User Interface which may be Google’s most innovated UI in last 3 years. The new operating system brings whopping changes to the look and feel of Android, it has ‘Material Design’ which highlights shapes, colors shadows animations and pictures to deliver totally fresh user experience. To bring in the 3D effect on mobile Android L supports real time shadows, elevation values and various light setting that make give you a three dimensional feel.
Smart Authentication Feature:
The new Android Operating system smart security features that gel different Android gears together to minimize the need of entering passwords every time you pick up your device. For example I you are wearing an Android gear your Smartphone will identify your presence and will unlock your phone.
Simpler Soft Keys:
Gone are the home button, the reverse arrow and two linked boxes for multitasking Android L has much simpler soft keys. The Home button has been replaced with a circle while reverse icon is triangle and square is placed for multitasking key.
App Indexing:
Google realized that the copy paste process of transferring data from one App to another is not cool so it has introduced easy app indexing in Android L. Suppose you search for a close by hair salon in your chrome browser now if you have yelp app installed in your device the App Indexing feature will recognize the App in the search and once you click on the link it will directly take you to Yelp App.
Improved Notifications:
The redesigned notifications in Android L matches the improved notification feature in iOS and then go a little further to make it more intuitive. Now if you get a call while using an app you will see the notification on the top of the screen and you can answer of deny the call without leaving the app. Best of all Android L gives you the freedom to priorities your notifications so only important one will appear on your screen while you are using another app.
64 Bit Computing:
Apple users can no longer tease Android customers with their 64 GB iPhones cause Android is finally going to support 64 bit computing in its new OS Android L. Google not only brings 64 bit computing to Android phones it promises to deliver computer like graphics to your phone and if we go by the preview it looks pretty real.
Battery Savvy App Design:
Android L has something call “battery saver mode” that increase battery life of a device by shutting down the CPU and adopting battery friendly screen saver. Google has also introduced a battery savvy technology called “Project Volta” that helps its developer understand the battery usage much batter to create apps that eat much less battery.
