Apple (APPL) is supposedly working on a curved big screen iPhone with improved sensors that could detect diverse pressure reported Bloomberg. A person who is familiar with this new development in Apple but does not wish to disclose his identity revealed the plans to Bloomberg.
According to the report Apple is planning to launch two new big screen iPhones by mid 2014, one of them will have curved glass display. Although the design of curvy iPhone is going to be opposite of its arch rival’s phone Samsung Galaxy Round. As explained in the report unlike the Galaxy Curve the new iPhone will have the curves outwards.
The Korean electronics giant Samsung launched its curvy phone last month and rumor is that LG is also working on a curvy Phone similar to Samsung Galaxy Curve. However, Samsung’s curve phone did not receive warm response from many tech critics and some even called it a useless innovation.
We wonder what their reaction is going to be when the Alighty Apple is going to reveal its curvy phone next year.
Since the launch of first Glaxy Note Samsung has created a huge market for Big Screen Phones which is increasing rapidly as Many Android maker joining the club. Apple’s or should we say Steve Jobs philosophy does not encourage big screen phones because their motto is to make smartphones which can be handled with one hand.
Although Apple has changed the design and size of their iPhones to meet the increasing big screen demand but they are still compatible. Perhaps, the Cupertino based tech major though that it’s time to make some changes in their ideology to compete with Samsung who has takeover Apple in profit margin this year.
Breaking its tradition Apple launched two iPhones at the same time in September this year to cater large range of consumers. However the company sold more than 9 million on its opening weekend the demand is declining with time. Reports also suggest that fewer people want to upgrade to iPhone 5s and 5c which is warning sign for the highly admired company.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had mentioned last month that Apple is working on some never before seen technology and the curvy iPhone might be one of them. Will it be a new breakthrough that Apple has been looking for? We will have to wait and watch.
